Case Studies

The case studies presented below are a compilation of examples of river restoration and rehabilitation projects describing the effect that given measures may have on the hydromorphology and ecology of different water bodies. These examples are intended to provide practitioners with valuable information about the applicability of different measures, nevertheless, practitioners are asked to review this information critically, dully considering the intrinsic diferences between study sites and how this may affect the transferabililty of results.

The information contained in the system has been provided by scientists, water managers, and water authorities across Europe. The FORECASTER consortium does not take responsibility for the veracity and completeness of this information, nor the use that third parties may give to it. The information is available for use with due acknowledgement of the original source.

Each case studies may contain the following information:

  • A factsheet: containing the basic background information about the case study.
  • A wiki page: containing a more detailed description of the project and its outcome.
  • Extra background information: for case studies where more information is available, extra information has been uploaded in the form of reports (usually in the language of the country), and links to other sites where the project is described.

There are various ways of accessing the information:

  • Click on the icon in the map to see the information for a given case study.
  • Use the Filter menu at the top of the map to select case studies for particular criteria.
  • Use the alphabetical list of case studies located at the bottom of the map.

The case studies information presented here has been compiled by the partners of FORECASTER thanks to the contributions of several water authorities throughout Europe as indicated in the respective wiki pages. If you use this information please acknowledge the original sources of information.
