HYMOQE: River depth and width variation

The list of case studies where this HYMOQE has been considered is presented at the bottom of the page under Pages in category "River depth and width variation". Click on the name of the case study to see more information.

Width and depth define the dimensions of the river channel. Bankfull width is determined by cross sections. It is a fundamental feature of the river and an indicator of the stream dynamics, related to bank morphology. The mean and maximum channel depth in bankfull stage is another key feature of the river and an indicator of longitudinal and vertical dynamics, associated to the substrate and riverbed morphology. Width to depth ratio is a very important parameter in channel geometry, whose adjustments may be typically associated with accretion or incision processes.
