Monitoring is useless if not repeated

The main purpose of monitoring is usually to assess the time-dependent development in response to restoration measures. It is important that this assessment distinguishes the slower trends from seasonal and event-based fluctuations. This is only possible if the situation is monitored several times over a longer period.
