Riparian zone improvement

General description

Measures in this category are aimed at improving riparian zones directly adjecent to waterbodies. These measures have either direct or indirect effects on aquatic habitat. Direct effect include limiting nutrient seepage by changing land use and reduction or increase of sediment input by changing bank protection. Indirect effects include the renaturalisation of bank vegetation, like forest development to provide a diverse shoreline habitat (i.e. shade, etc).
