HYMOQE: Structure of the floodplain

Floodplain: area that are periodically inundated by lateral overflow of rivers, lakes, or by direct precipitation or groundwater (Junk et al., 1989)[1]

From hydro-morphological point of view, the floodplain structure comprises: bars, levees, swales, oxbows, backwaters and side channels. [2] [3]
