Extra background information
The agricultural Plan Almonte-Marismas impulsed by the FAO in the 1960´s created a network of artificial drainage channels through the marsh,to transform it into irrigated crops, although this sector of the marshes was never cultivated.
The natural flow is spread through the drainage network, reducing the natural contribution to the marshes. Also,a wall constructed by the FAO, isolates this space from the doñana marshes. The morphology of the braided channels has suffered also modifications.
