Esva - Bank protection
Key features of the case study
Alghouth this fluvial reach had been previously channelized, banks continued to be eroded during high-water flows. Since this area has been designated as a Site of Comunitary Importance, no traditional bank protections were allowed and therefore alternative bio-engineering techniques were designed to prevent further bank retreat.

The project includes the creation of a nev riparian forest, with Alnus glutinosa and Salix sp. New bio-engineering techniques are used to develop and help these riparian communities.
